The location of our apartments is perfect and will allow you to discover everything our region has to offer. Relaxation, culture, nature, the Mediterranean, de Pyrenees …  Everything is at hand!

Castles and Abbeys

The Aude department harbours many remains from the rich history of the Cathars. The Cité of Carcassonne, which is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, is the most famous. 
A couple of million people visit the "La Cité de Carcassonne" every year and not without reason! This Citadel is renowned as the most beautiful example of a medieval city in Europe. But there are several other magnificent castles and abbeys that are well worth a visit in the close vicinity. These are often located in stunning settings where you can enjoy extraordinary scenery and rich history.

Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi, also on the Unesco World Heritage List, runs through the centre of Carcassone. Here you can take  lovely walks and bicycle rides on the century old ‘pulling paths’ in the shade of the beautiful sycamore trees. You can also enjoy a charming boat ride on part of this 17th century canal.

Lac de Cavayère

The Lac de Cavayère, which is also known as the beach of Carcassonne is not far away. Here you can relax, swim or enjoy a walk. In addition, there are many possibilities to participate in lots of activities in and around the lake.

Wines

The area around Carcassonne is renowned for it’s delicious wines from the Corbières, Minervois, Cabardès, Malapère and more particularly, the Blanquette de Limoux, a lovely white sparkling wine that can easily compete with a good champagne. The wines of this region have an excellent price / quality !

On the culinary side everything is possible in the area.  From simple honest eateries to the 3 star Michelin restaurant “Auberge du vieux Puits”.

Montagne Noire / Caves

The Montagne Noire is located slightly to the north of Carcasonne. This is a small range of mountains with the highest point on Pic de Nore at 1214 metres. In these mountains you can also visit the caves for example the “Gouffre Géant de Cabrespine” and the “Grotte de Limousis”. The area is also renowned for it’s pink marble which is still being extracted at the Caunes-Minervois quarry. 

Villages and Cities

In the area there are several charming villages and enchanting cities that are easily reached by car and in a single case by train. Carcassonne, Limoux, Mirepoix, Toulouse, Minerve, Lagrasse, Narbonne, Collioure and Perpignan are just a few. Of course there are also many nice and convivial markets to discover.

Mediterranean / Pyrenees

A day trip to the beach? Within an hour you can take a lovely dive in the Mediterranean.  Do you prefer the coolness of the Pyrenees?  This is also possible and these high mountains can be reached within 1.5 hours.

Sports

In the direct vicinity there are numerous possibilities ranging from walking/hiking, to cycling (hilly), mountain biking, canoeing, rafting and motorbiking (or touring by car). Furthermore, there is a beautiful 18-hole golf course of Carcassonne.
